LEW FINKELSTEIN, CPA (In Memoriam)

Partner (1995 – 2019)

Lewis R. Finkelstein, CPA
1/5/1960 – 4/29/2019

On April 29, 2019, our dear friend and partner Lew Finkelstein passed away unexpectedly. Lew joined the Firm on December 1, 1995. He was admired and respected by his partners, staff and clients. Lew grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. Lew left Boston to attend the University of Illinois, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. After a short two years of living and working in Chicago, Lew headed west in 1984, living in Northern California for a few years. Thereafter, in 1986 Lew relocated to Orange County where he has resided ever since. In 1994, Lew married Sheree Metzner and they had two children, both boys, Joey and Michael. Joey is currently a sophomore at Clemson University and Michael a sophomore at Trabuco Hills High School.

Lew was a leader in his community. Lew was a valued member of his temple, Temple Beth El of South Orange County. He served on the Board of Directors of his fraternity, Psi Upsilon Foundation. Lew was active in the Orange County Illini Club, serving as Treasurer. Lew was also an active member of Provisors, a business networking organization, serving on the Nonprofit Affinity Group Executive Committee. Lew was a past member of the Board of Trustees of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Orange County Chapter.

Lew loved to golf, play tennis, make his annual family vacation trip to Hawaii, his short excursions to Las Vegas, and his annual home coming trip to Champaign, Illinois. Lew loved sports, all sports, but especially his beloved Boston Red Sox baseball. And Lew loved to tell stories of his many travels and antics thereon.

Following his graduation from the University of Illinois, Lew began what was to be a long and fulfilling career in public accounting. Lew has been instrumental to the success of Rossi LLP, always being willing to do what it takes to get the job done. We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to have known Lew, to have him in our daily lives, and he will be missed by us and many others.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sheree, Joey and Michael.

The family has requested that donations in remembrance of Lew be made to the college savings 529 accounts of Joey and Michael. Accordingly, should you wish to make a contribution please make separate checks payable to Joey and Michael and those can be sent to Al Rossi, Rossi LLP. Al will ensure that all donations are remitted to provide for Joey’s and Michael’s college expenses.

The family greatly appreciates your generosity.
